I Stayed In A Tiny House For The Weekend, And Here’s Why You Should Too

I think it’s safe to say that most of us would agree that we live in a fast-paced society. We live in the age of “now” and are at a state of hyper-connectivity. Though that isn’t a terrible fact, oftentimes we forget to take a step back and disconnect every once in a while to truly reconnect.

Getaway House invited me to try out their unique tiny house experience and I’m so glad that I made the time to do it. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to reconnect with themselves or their loved ones by disconnecting from the rest of the world in nature. Aside from being a super cool and unique experience, I walked away feeling refreshed after getting away from my daily routine. This is definitely an experience that everyone should try at least once. Here’s why I think you should #GetawayOften:

1) There isn’t any WiFi available and cell service is pretty weak-to-none on the campsite

Not only that, but each cabin comes with a cell phone lockbox right by the door. Nothing forces real conversation than lack of WiFi and cell service. It really enforces the idea of disconnecting to reconnect, which I appreciated.

2) Tiny homes themselves are unique experiences

If you’ve never stayed in a Tiny Home, they’re built to have everything you need and nothing more. Each cabin comes with a bed, stocked kitchenette, and a bathroom with hot water to shower. It was a nice reminder that you don’t need a lot in your life to be happy or survive

3) You can bring your pet(s)!

The best thing about my Getaway experience was being able to bring along my dog, Ace. The cabin even had an outdoor dog leash, a set of dog bowls, and extra poop bags. They also have trails throughout the campsite perfect for long walks in nature

4) Nature is extremely calming

These cabins are nestled in campsites not too far from big cities like Dallas, Seattle, Los Angeles, and more. If you live in these major cities, it’s easy to forget what serenity in nature is like. It’s extremely humbling to be without the sounds of major highways and the hustle and bustle of city life for a weekend.

5) If you’ve been feeling lost or out of place, a Getaway experience is exactly what you need to reset

Right before I took this trip, I was feeling in a weird rut. I was preparing for the new year, setting goals, trying to figure out what I needed to do to feel I had everything under control. It was the perfect opportunity for me to just reconnect with myself in a place unbothered by distraction. Needless to say, I left feeling refreshed and itching to come back.

I’m so glad that I was able to reconnect by disconnecting. Do you want to #GetawayOften too? When booking your next Getaway, use code “JANELLE25” to save $25 on your trip!
