I turned 23 this year (#JordanYear) and I spontaneously decided to spend my birthday weekend in Dallas! Now, of all the major cities in Texas, I haven't spent much time getting to know this city. To be honest, I have a lot of bias against Dallas. 1) I'm a Chicago Bears fan, which means I hate the Dallas Cowboys. And that's about 90% of the reason why Dallas and I aren't such great friends... LOL.I wish I had more time to fit food into my schedule (gasp), but I'm pretty positive that this isn't the last time I'll be back to feast. If you have any recommendations on what to try the next time I'm in town, feel free to drop me a comment. Dallas is a foodie friendly city so I definitely don't want to miss out on all the great grub that it has to offer!And with that, let's see what this foodie devoured:

Meal #1: Kula Revolving Sushi Bar - 2540 Old Denton Rd #140, Carrollton, TX

Needless to say, I was SUPER excited to try this place out. I've only seen conveyor belt sushi on TV and in the movies so I was ready to have a go at it myself. For $2.25 a plate, I'd say that I definitely got my money's worth. However, I can see the caution you'd have to take to make sure that you don't go overboard on mindlessly pulling sushi off the belt. Overall, the quality was pretty good, but I was a bit hesitant to try the more "exotic" pieces like uni (sea urchin). And for my fellow Austinites, they're opening a place off Airport Blvd. sometime this year! Once those doors open, I'll definitely be stopping by when my sushi fix is kicking in at full force.

Meal #2: Fuel City Tacos - 801 S Riverfront Blvd, Dallas, TX

Alright, I'm going to be 100% honest. I enjoyed these tacos with the help of my lovely friend Jameson, you may know him. BUT these tacos were DAMN GOOD (sorry, Torchy's). When you pull up to a taco joint serving bomb tacos outside of a gas station, you know it's legit - especially when it's cash only. I'm pretty loyal to a plethora of taco joints in Austin, but these tacos are definitely up to par in terms of taste and bang for the buck. Whenever I go to an authentic-style taqueria, I always have to try the pastor and the barbacoa. These hit the spot! And their elotes (not pictured) were SO GOOD. Must. Go. Back.

Meal #3: Public School 214 - 3700 McKinney Ave #148, Dallas, TX

My first brunch in Dallas was here and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience I had. I'm a sucker for aesthetically pleasing restaurants and at PS214, everything is modeled after a school - their menus were even designed as a composition notebook and a scantron! As for brunch, the options were pretty good and far beyond boring. I went with the "Chef's Creation, Stuffed French Toast Of The Day," which just so happened to be peanut butter creme with vanilla wafers. It was the right amount of sweetness, a.k.a. not too overpowering to where I needed to chug water to balance out the sugar. They also have $5 carafes for mimosas. I ain't even mad.

Meal #4: Paciugo Gelato - 8687 North Central Expressway, Ste 2404, Dallas, TX

Okay, so I may have gone a little overboard with the gelato... I got 3 scoops for myself #noshame. I was craving something refreshing after brunch and this hit the spot. Mango, raspberry, and lemon all for little me. YUM!

Meal #5: Pie Tap Pizza Workshop + Bar - 1212 Oak Lawn Ave. Ste 131, Dallas, TX

Brunch #2 in Dallas. This was my official "birthday brunch" and what better way to celebrate than with my favorite food group? Pizza. Oh yes. Salmon on a pizza is probably sacrilegious... BUT this was a brunch-inspired flavor. Lox and creme cheese are a classic brunch meal, so why not turn it into a pizza? Now, if you know me, I'm slightly obsessed with pizza. I know a good pie when I see one. The best way to break my heart is if you get the crust wrong. NEVER get the crust wrong. I can say with good faith that the crust here did not disappoint. However, it was a bit thick for my liking. All in all, I'd come here again.

Meal #6: Fat Straws - 11810 Preston Rd. #150, Dallas, TX

If you haven't tried boba tea, you're missing out on something beautiful, my friend. To those that have tried it and didn't like it, who hurt you? Boba is delicious. Just try not to choke on the little tapioca balls floating around in your drink (a.k.a. the boba). Anyways, I love bubble tea. It's one of those things I grew up with as a child. If I'm being 100% honest, I've had better boba. The taro milk tea (pictured) was delicious, but they missed the mark on the classic milk tea IMHO. Would I come back here? Probably, if I had no other options. #sorrynotsorryMeal

#7: Gen Korean BBQ House - 2540 Old Denton Rd. Ste 134, Carrollton, TXAhh, Korean BBQ. Meat from the Gods. LOL. In all seriousness, my previous AYCE (all you can eat) Korean BBQ experience was at Hae Jang Chon located in Los Angeles's Koreatown. They set the bar pretty high when it comes to a quality Korean BBQ experience. Not to be confused with Jin in Plano, Gen was pretty good. For $15.99 AYCE during lunch, there isn't much room for complaining. The service there was really good too and that's always a plus in my book. Get the spicy pork bulgogi and save room for lots of it. Also, they have some tasty flavored soju (Korean alcohol made from rice). Try the lychee! 

This past weekend in Dallas is definitely one that I'll remember. I was surrounded with great vibes, even greater friends and delicious food. I'll be back D-Town! Until then, catch me at the gym working off all those extra calories!
